Executive Team Member, Prof. Vajira H.W. Dissanayake, elected Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo
As the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka celebrated its 150th anniversary on June 1, they also welcomed Prof. Vajira H.W. Dissanayake as their 17th Dean to head the faculty. Prof. Dissanayake currently serves on the G2MC Executive Team and has been significantly involved in G2MC working group and flagship project efforts in addition to his leadership contributions. He specializes in genetics, genomics, and biomedical informatics, and is currently involved in the COVID-19 efforts in Sri Lanka.
Prof. Dissanayake is a Past President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA), the immediate Past President of the Commonwealth Medical Association; a Board Member of the Forum for Ethics Review Committees in Asia and the Western Pacific (FERCAP), the President of the Asia Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI), the Vice President of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), and the Chairman of the Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health.
