The University del Desarrollo is excited to offer the first online genetic counseling diploma course in Chile – filling a long-overlooked gap in healthcare in Chile and Latin America.

The diploma will provide basic skills in genetics and genetic counseling to prepare health care professionals to guide and support patients seeking more information about how inherited diseases and conditions might affect them or their families, how to interpret genetic test results and how to refer complex cases to genetics in order to manage genetic conditions.

By having remote access to the didactic coursework, students are free to pursue their learning at their own pace applying what has been learned to their clinical practice. This program is paving the way toward making education in genetic counseling more accessible and affordable in Chile and Latin America.
