G2MC Accepting Steering Committee Nominations Through May 5

The Global Genomic Medicine Consortium (G2MC) is pleased to begin the nomination process for electing new members to the G2MC Steering Committee. The Global Genomic Medicine Collaborative (GGMC) is dedicated to ensuring our leadership teams are built on the continuity of participation by qualified and globally representative members. As such, we recognize the opportunity to further diversify the G2MC Steering Committee by bringing new members on board to fill our underrepresented categories.

We are currently soliciting nominations for representatives of LMICs, in particular from the African, Indian, and Southeast Asian regions, underserved or underrepresented populations, industry representatives, and funding-body representatives. If you represent one of these categories and have the desire and commitment to join G2MC and serve as a Steering Committee member, we encourage you to submit a self-nomination using this short form. The deadline for nominations is 5 May 2022.

The responsibilities and composition of the G2MC Steering Committee are as follows:

  • The G2MC Steering Committee will approve and advise upon program goals set out by the Executive Committee according to the long-term strategic directions. They will execute assignments from the EC, manage existing working groups and propose creation of new functional groups as appropriate (to be approved by BoD). They will review and approve G2MC-wide protocols and procedures, participate in SC meetings (currently every other month), international conferences, and support philanthropy efforts. Steering Committee members are appointed for a 3-year renewable term.
  • The G2MC Steering Committee is composed of the following categories of members: (1) Executive Committee members; (2) Working Group, Flagship Project, or Subcommittee leads; (3) contributors from LMIC and underserved regions or populations; (4) Industry representatives; and (5) funding representatives.

Nominees will be contacted to provide a personal statement shortly after. The nominees will be presented to the Executive Committee for voting and will be notified of the decision by 31 May 2022.
