The Family Health History (FHH) Flagship Project team is starting 2022 by continuing efforts on two major initiatives. The first is an FHH app pilot between healthcare providers in Nepal and the University of Michigan Medical Genetics. A needs assessment survey will be administered to determine how FHH is currently collected and used in patient care and to better understand the clinical genetics capabilities within Nepal. The usual steps of IRB approval and agreement on data sharing regulations will also be completed.

Because of this and many other FHH projects desired by several countries, the G2MC Family Health History Flagship Project is still seeking outside funding. One opportunity would be to work with international diagnostic labs that would benefit from using an FHH assessment for genetic test result interpretation.

The second major project that started last year includes building a form on the G2MC website to collect FHH use cases from around the world. Healthcare providers would be able to share knowledge, best practices, and FHH software experiences using this online submission form. Website visitors would be able to search the use cases to find related FHH activities, and if desired, contact the sources to begin a dialogue that would benefit both parties.
