Mission
The Education Working Group aims to assess and facilitate educational activities to prepare providers in the implementation of genomic medicine in clinical practice worldwide.
Goals
- Develop courses, case studies, assessment tools, and other educational resources.
- Collaborate with other educational groups and organizations to develop educational resources and expand outreach opportunities.
- Develop programs that support the G2MC Flagship Projects.
- Engage and involve young investigators, the workforce of tomorrow, along the way.
- Education Needs Assessment Survey: The G2MC Education Needs Assessment Survey was developed with the purpose of determining the global needs for health care provider education in genetics and genomics, identifying barriers to the implementation of curricula in this area, and determining existing resources across countries. The survey was distributed to over 600 participants in May 2020. Results have been compiled into a manuscript and submitted for publication.
- Genomic Medicine Immersion Course: The working group is in the process of planning a Genomic Medicine Immersion Course planned to take place during the 2021 G2MC International Conference.
- Educational Workshops and Resources: Members of the working group are working to identify opportunities for the development and implementation of genomic medicine workshops and courses, as well as a platform for housing G2MC and other genomic medicine educational tools and resources.
